Netgear Problems

Hi,

A friend gave me a Netgear WPN824 v2 modem however i cant seem to get it to work with my computer. Currently im using a bog standard bt voyager 105 modem which works fine but as soon as i connect the adsl line to the new modem i lose my phone line (cant make calls) and the internet connectivity light doesnt light up on the modem.

I havent tried unistalling the bt voyager drivers but i doubt that would be the problem. Anyone know whats causing the modem to not work?

The WPN824 v2 is a cable router so wont work with a bt modem

yeh i know it wont

just saying that my bt modem works fine but when i plug this one in its doesnt pick up the adsl signal and also my phone line goes dead..

What are you asking us then? as that router doesnt have a modem in it - so wont work on a bt line with or without a bt modem

so what else do i need apart from this router then? i thought i could connect to the internet using a router..

You can, with an ADSL router.
