Netgear Router and MSN

Hello...

I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger when I use my Netgear 834G router...it just doesnt connect. Its fine when I use a BT Home Hub that I got from BT broadband...but that thing keeps wiping out on me. Any ideas why MSN wont conect with the Netgear???

Odd. Have you been messing with outgoing ports in the config?

Nope...not that I know off. Also when I do a network check in MSN in the options..it tells me that internet conection is fine and I should be able to connect.

i had this problem too - you need to downgrade to the previous version........ crap really.

(I presume this is in Vista? XP was fine for me)

when i say downgrade - i mean the firmware on the router..... not the os lol

try turning off IP V6

Under the network connection properties - normally where you'd set a static IP address, youll find IP v4 and IP v6, uncheck v6 and I reckon that'll fix it.

try lowering the mtu size in the netgear router to 1400 to see if that helps if the above doesn't work
