Netgear router - default DMZ server

I'm just reading the help guide on my router as I'm wanting to allow access to one of my machines for a service I have defined and it says the following:

Specifying a Default DMZ Server allows you to set up a computer or server that is available to anyone on the Internet for services that you haven't defined.

Notice the bit in bold, is that a typo? Or am I misunderstanding the use of a DMZ server?
