Netgear router takes ages to connect?

Hi,
I have the netgear dg834g v2 wireless router.

Now...everytime it looses its internet connection (bt fault, or power surge etc)...

I try to turn it back on in the correct manner, but the ADSL light just wont light. It just wont recognise the connection.

I have to leave it for anything around 2 hours before it gets the connection again.

When i bought it and plugged it in months ago, it got the connection straight away. Why it take so long now? A right pain when i need to get back on the net and it wont connect.

Any ideas?
