We're on an ntl package, sposed to be 10mb but hardly ever get that, for the past few days seems to have been slowing down a fair bit. Today I rang them and told them and the woman in india was like take it out from the router and all that as per. Did all that and now nothing works.

The router (Netgear one, same as everyones) recognises that it has the internet, is broadcasting the wireless yet nothin is going on. Even with a wire going through the router I get nothing. Plugging a wire directly into the modem seems the only way to get a connection and even then it wouldnt work straight away.

Anyone any ideas? Cheers

just go down to 4mb

honestly i had nothing but problems with it
months and months of phone calls to NTL 10 engineers
and my house was rewired (ntl wires)

at best i got 1200Kbs downloading vista from Microsoft
that was a one off by the way
often it was 5/600Kbs general downloading
and normaly it was about 2/300Kbs
in the end i was lucky to get 50kBs
latency for online games was realy bad most of the time mostly over 500ms wich was unplayable
gave up in the end and dropped to 4MB and get 500ishKbs constantly
all tho i have noticed the bandwidth loss like if I'm downloading and my Mrs wants to browse the net on her pc the connection is pretty sluggish

connection seems to be ok-ish though when just going through the modem seems to be just a problem with the router. Anyone had any specific problems with netgear routers? Was thinking somewhere along the lines of something being restricted in the router page.

try a reset
with mine i have to hold the reset button in and plug the power in at the same time

or just try pressing the reset button with everything connected
usualy if i cant connect to a website i press the reset button and i can get to said website

also happens with azureus it shows NAT/firewall error (press reset button) and it fixes its self

also try disabling any ports you have forwarded

When you fisrt setup the wireless Router, did you connect the Router via a Cat5 cable to your rig first?

What speeds do you get when connected wired to the router?

Have you disabled, your broadcating of your SSID, you may have leachers connecting to your network.
