I have Netgear software for my router on my PC and it doesn't seem to work without using classic login. This is the same on 2 PCs. Is there a way I can change this?
Why would you want to configure it via the Netgear software? Use the in-built function via the web browser (http://[ip-address]) (Gateway Address)
Start > Run > Type CMD > Press Enter > IPCONFIG /ALL > Press Enter > Gateway Address > Enter In web Browser > Type Admin Username && Password. Sorted..
I guess I phrased it wrong. The netgear software for my wireless adapter makes windows use the classic login. When I try to change it to the welcome screen it says there is a software stopping me. It's not a big problem, I just wouldn't mind a work around.
This is a known pronlem. I am on the move at the moment so I don't have access to my Favorites but do a Google and you should find a site where some guy's designed a fix. I think it's a Registry key change because Netgear overwrite a value. If you're still stuck later I'll add the link.
The Intel software is better than XP's but sometimes it gets in the way. As I found out earlier this year, if you need to log on to a domain you have to get rid of everything but the Intel driver and let XP do all the work. Otherwise the wireless connection doesn't come up until after you've logged in to the local PC which doesn't help at all. Not relevent to the OP but just an illustration....
