I have just started up a new internet connection at a new house and have been sent a new router.

Siemens gigaset Se587

I am currently using a Netgear one, which was the one that sky provide. (Cant remember the model number)

Which is better? Or any comments on the siemens one?

Thanks

Agreed. Someone didnt do their research on this one.
The router make is the least of your worries now :D
Hope you can get out of the contract..

Never had any problems myself. Been with them three years. Good speed considering whats in my area. Pay for 8mb and I get about 6mb, I get free phone calls, free phone line rental. All for £19.99.

My gaming has never been effected, never been throttled as I download anything outside peak hours. Ping has always been a consistant 20-30.

I dont think I am going to get a better deal anywhere else. Sure their call centres are rubbish but Ive only had to speak with them twice in three years, and one of them was because i was moving house and cant really complain about the move. Lost my broadband for two weeks and up and running fine.

(Fingers crossed)

So personally I dont care what their rep is like, its only the service that I am provided that I really care about. Unlucky for those that have a bad time, guess I have been lucky twice with two different addresses.

So does anyone know what the seimens router is like?

I had a quick google for it earlier but as the first post wasn't what I wanted, I gave up. I thought you could prob google just as well as me :p

Good for you with your Tiscali experience. The only brush I had with them was awful, but that was BT's fault for leaving Tiscali LLU of someone elses on my supposedly "new" phoneline. Le idiots :/

The siemens routers are generally produced by Askey in Taiwan and are high quality products. You can probably find the same device marketed as a BT Business or Dynalink product.

Siemens bought out Efficient Networks, whose (excellent) routers BT used to give out. Not that that's much to go by, look how iffy some of Linksys' products are.
