I've witnessed this problem on various Netgear wireless adapters whether its USB or PCMCIA and I have found the only fix is to reinstall windows.
A client of mine is having the same problem and I hope that for once someone has a fix and I don't have to do the dreaded reinstall.
Basically its down to the fact that the card cannot find an access point. Once in a blue moon it will find the access point and connect to it but then a few minutes later the access point disappears. It just keeps scanning and pics nothing up.
I removed drivers and reinstalled with the latest ones, disabled the Netgear smart wizard and tried using Windows Wireless connection but to no avail.
If someone has had similar problems and fixed it, I would appreciate the help.
Cheers.
