Hello,

Got Netmeter 0.9.9.9 (Beta2) on Home premeium Vista. I seem to be (according to Netmeter) using 100's megs by just web browsing, and when I download something @ 50KPS (say) Netmeter will say 300-400KPS etc.

I am on my laptop, and wirelessly connected, though it is same on my desktop too (lan). Is netmeter false reading me?, or maybe someone else is using my network? Netmeter reads 280 megs used today ATM - and only been surfing for an hour or so!

Cheers:)

kbps is not the same as kb/s

ie if you have a 512kbps connection the download rate is about 50kb/s

I'm sure it's not a bits/bytes issue.

with my 10Mb/384Kb connection, in XP Netmeter reported my max speeds as

1.2M down / 40KB up (which is normal)

my reported download and upload speeds doubled when using Netmeter in Vista.

2.4M down / 80KB up

Not sure why, though I'm back on XP and it's normal again so I haven't investigated it.

edit: just re-read the OP and he's getting a much higher reading than I was, so it could be bits/bytes... but I think Netmeter is still weird running on Vista.
