I have got my hands on an old HP Netserver E800 (duel P3 733MHz/512MB RAM) and I'm trying to install server 2003 onto it. I have created a RAID 5 drive and have completed the 1st part on the windows install and it formatted and cipied the files fine. after the reboot however it brings up an error saying that there are no drives but the HP Netraid card detects the drive.

It seems to be that it's a BIOS boot problem but it's set to boot from the raid card and there are no other boot options except the onboard raid and floppy/cd-rom.

Any ideas please?

how many raid options are there? some have 2 diffrent raid controlers and you need just 1 turned on

On bootup I have a Symbios config utility (Ctrl+C) and a HP NetRaid adapter (Ctrl+M). the netraid is the one with the disks attached and the Symbios is the last option in the boot sequence.

Can't see any options in the bios to turn off the onboard raid

It looks like I may need 3rd party drivers during the install but I thought I wouldn't even get to format or copy the files is this was true.

Have you checked both RAID controller BIOS's to see if they have any boot options that can be changed or enabled?
