Hi guys,

Wondered if there are any recommendations for the above apps? I tried Net Stumbler in WINE but doesn't work (can't detect adapter) so is there a good alternative?

Also what's a recommended GUI TFTP and FTP server? Haven't used Linux in yonks and installed mint 8 today

Cheers!

FTP is not recommended period (like telnet). Credentials are passed in plain text and can be trivially read off the network. Use SFTP instead, if you have SSH then you should have it.

I'm not aware of a GUI TFTP server, just configure the standard TFTP server and jobs a good'un.

if you're using linux then you need to get used to doing a few things on the command line.

Try Kismet as a replacement for netstumbler - its actually far superior to netstumbler , just not so pretty. Your card needs to support raw monitoring mode, most ive tried seem to.

Thanks for that, I sorted out the tftp server, eventually found a good little guide for debain.

I'll grab kismet too, I saw the name banded around but toitally forgot about it

Thanks both
