Ive got a bit of a problem with getting windows xp to use a wired network instead of a wireless one when they are on the same network. I have 3 computers connected to a switch, only 2 of these have wireless for connecting to the internet however, so one of them is setup to bridge the wireless and wired networks.

When I try to transfer some files between the 2 wireless computers, it always uses the wireless to transfer (which is quite slow). I read somewhere about setting up the metric to be different so it always tries to use one connection before the other, but with the bridging, there is no independent tcp settings for each adapter.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Why do you need to bridge them?

Can't you just get the router to give out 2 ip addresses, 1 for wired and 1 for wireless and then let the metric that the OS assigns sort it out. That's what I do, so unplug the wired from the notebook and it starts using the wireless, plug the wired back in and a few moments later it'll use the wired.

Try Control Panel>Network Connections.
Then click advanced and Advanced Settings.
Order your adapters in there.
