Hello dear community,
I have built my own gaming computer, my ISP is Virgin Media and I have the Vivid 200 Gamer. What so ever my Ping is incredibly awful whenever I play either Cs Go either League of Legends and few other games. In regards with the ISP, I believe that I have more than enough. I do not have a separate router and I do not want to spend on that as I truly believe is not worth it. People here do not necessarily need those for some gaming. Would you consider worth buying a network card adapter to improve my ping? Many thanks.

Ps this are the specs for the computer:

Network adaptor I doubt will help as your board has the latest speed LAN.

How are you connecting to your router/modem? what is the average ping?

So, first of all, I have that virgin media hub 3.0 and I am connected to it with Ethernet Cable. Average ping is from 70 to 150 or something similar to that in Cs Go and in League pretty much the same. I do have few other users connected at the same time to the wifi but that should make an important difference as I have the max speed for gaming from Virgin.

It sounds like there might be some program on some PC eating the bandwidth and killing the ping.

The Virgin SH3 is seriously broken.

Read the more recent pages on the Virgin thread for many tales of woe.

There's supposed to be a firmware update coming that'll fix the issues, but don't hold your breath.

Do the following..

Click start, type

cmd

Press enter

This will open up a command prompt window
In this window, type

ping -t 8.8.8.8
Press enter

Look for
time=XXms , this is your ping to the Google servers. Go round the house turning on the other devices one by one until one of them makes those figures rise. Then investigate on that PC. Probably a torrent upload or something similar, could be a virus.
