Network and WiFi information

Hey,

Quick question.. anyone know of some software which i can use to view how much an individual pc is downloading on my home network? Or to view general real time information based on their browsing.

I suspect someone is taking the p with downloads and i need to confirm its them.

(also i once saw on the real hustle they viewed real time info..as in they could see what was on their screen..once they had hacked their wireless network. does software like this exist?)

A packet sniffer will tell you. Something like Ethereal (I think it's changed it's name but google it)

You'd also need to talk your wireless card into doing promiscuous mode, which more or less excludes doing it in Windows.

To see how much a machine was transferring would take either software installed on that machine or support for monitoring within your router/wireless AP.

Your wireless router may have an SNMP interface allowing you to aggregate some information from there - mine certainly does (DrayTek 2900 VG).

Its now called wireshark, and yes, its excellent.
