Just setting up a the network between windows 7 PC and my OS X machine, I can view/copy files from win to OS X but I cant access my OS X files/folders from my windows 7 PC...can anyone help me out?

Does Win7 give any error message? What is your Windows network profile set to? Have you got any firewalls running on either machine?

Have you enabled SMB on the Mac?

This.

BTW It's VERY VERY ropey, it can work perfectly for weeks and without you changing anything it stops.

I gave up and now use a VMWare thing to transfer files lol

Edit: Windows networking has a lot to be desired, nothing really has improved from XP in my experience sadly.

Vista introduced a few quirks that affect file transfers in some situations but the networking is much improved since XP. Not that XP wasn't any good, it was just looking a bit dated like the rest of the OS these days.

Take us through the steps you have done to set up file sharing (on the Mac) to see if anything obvious is missing. You might not be authenticating with the Mac properly.

Very true, because getting a passcode from one win7 computer and inserting it into the other is so very difficult... ;)

Cheers for the replies, yes Ive got SMB enabled under sharing/file sharing. The first time I tried to connect via connect to server I could connect to my win PC...but now nothing. I can ping each machine ok.

For some reason I can now transfer files from my PC to my Mac(possibly down to a reboot), but I cant transfer files the other way.

On windows in network I can view the Mac but cant access it error is 'network path cannot be found' can anyone help me out?
