We're doing some work on the house in the summer and I'm taking the opportunity to install some proper network ports across the house. I bought some keystone jacks from the auction site for a good price. When they arrived they seem very good, and they have a tool-free system which is nice, but they don't look like I was expecting.
This is what I've got:
There's loads of videos on youtube with this type of jack and they snap into a faceplate like this:
I think they must be USA standard or something, as all the UK faceplates I've found seem to have a different standard, with bigger modules like this:
which then snap into a faceplate like this:
I'm just curious really, do these two different standards have an easily identifiable name, to make it easier for me to search for them? Also, if I get the 'USA' standard faceplates I need for the jacks I've already bought, will they screw into standard electrical backboxes, as I've got a load of these already? Alternatively I'll just ditch the jacks I've bought as I only paid £8 for 12 of them.
