Hi,
Has been years (E.g. at uni while doing CCNA) since I've had to do anything remotely related to networking, so be kind.
Have just moved into a new office, with network cabling already laid. Everything is wireless via wireless router bar a single pc, that needs to be connected via an ethernet cable to the router.
There's a kind of distribution box at the end of the building with lots of number ports.
I need to connect the wired pc to the router to enable internet access.
I'm just going off what I did in the CCNA practicles years ago, so, will the following work?
Plug the ethernet cable from the pc into a termination point, note the number on the socket (say 20). Connect an ethernet cable to the router and to a second termination point - Say 25.
In the distribution box thing (sorry, don't know what this is called
) use a short crossover cable to connect ports 20 to 25.
Is the above correct?
Thanky
