What are the best settings to have to achieve better speeds, I currently have gigabit connections, but if I am sending data to my server I am lucky to get 3mb/s speeds

Sounds like a bottleneck somewhere. Can you confirm they are both connected at 1Gb/s in task manager (network connections).
I have never had to configure network connections.
Do they also have the latest drivers, and how is the connection (cable length [ish] hardware etc).

Both have gigabit connections,
cable from server to switch is only 2 ft long
pc to switch about 4 meters long
Switch is a netgear GS105 I think it's called
all on board NIC cards realtek
Have updated drivers

I have solved it! I can now send data at 60 mb/s all I needed to do was turn jumbo frames off on all computers
