So I just ordered my PC last night and all of a sudden my little brother decides he would like a new pc as well, for Christmas. I told my parents I'd see what I could build for their budget. Half way through I realised that he games wirelessly at our mothers house. He currently has a Dell Wireless 1505 draft 802.11n WLAN mini card, except this gizmo seems to have 2 parts (I thought a network card was just a card with an antenna, nothing else). I didn't include a picture as I wasn't sure on forum rules about that, but it's the first result on google images. I asked my brother if he knew what they were for, and he said that he still gets wireless without the little box thing plugged in, but he receives worse signal. If anyone can explain this one to me I'd be grateful.

Secondly, I'm looking to replace that piece of rubbish for his new pc. Can anyone recommend one of the better cards? Cheers!

The Tenda is a PCI card the ASUS is PCI-E. What motherboard are you going to use? Has it got a PCI socket?

Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

This is the motherboard that I'm going to order.

I think by the looks of it i'll have some PCI-E ports free to use the Asus card. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Is there any beneift of using a PCI-E slot over the normal PCI?

Cheers guys.
