I've got 2 PCs on the same network, they are both plugged into a Gigabit switch. I want to access a 4TB drive on PC1 by using PC2. I want to be able to drag and drop files between the PCs.

I'm thinking I need to map the network drive, but the 2 PCs can't seem to see each other. If I go to map the drive, I click on "Network" but nothing shows.

Can you see the pc's in network neighbourhood? Have you turned on network discovery? On both. That should enable file sharing.
Andi.

If you know the two IP addresses, you could map the drive via ip rather than unc path ie. \\192.168.1.2\c$
(Assuming you shared the drive and it's the c:\ os drive.)

The IP address is one digit different. I've managed to map the drive by using the IP but I'm not getting access to the D: I'm just getting the public folders. How do I get access to another drive outwith C:

If you want to access folders over a network you need to share them (and set the necessary permissions).

The c$ is the standard admin share which you wouldn't usually use.

The must be hundreds of internet guides (written and videos) that'll detail the required steps.
