my problem is that my wirelss network is pretty poor and coupled with solid brick walls doesn't reach much out of my living room so I am looking to extend it to cover upstairs, the remainder of downstairs and the garden. My house is a 2up 2down terrace so not massive.
I don't think a new router would increase the range that much but would probably help a bit
if i got a new router and then connected my old one to the network somewhere via the lan port rather than the wan, would that act as a wireless access point - bypassing dhcp generation?
if I connect two wireless access points to my two switches upstairs and downstairs, does that just act as an extender?
presumably I could attach a homeplug near my router and then one at the back of the house and attach an ethernet wireless access point to that?
If I put a wireless pci card in the pc upstairs and enabled network connection sharing would that also work? would there be any danger of the pc with the card trying to use the wireless network rather than the wired one to communicate with the main router downstairs?
i hope that is clear enough
