We use Microsoft Visio for network diagrams, which is fine for documenting VLAN layouts etc... but I don't find it very useful for visually documenting application data flows like DFS replication, DNS replication etc...
I know there's lots of tools out there, but does anyone have any real hands on experience with any of them and have recommendations?
Idealy, what I would like is a complete map of our Microsoft infrastructure.
It covers 5 sites, with 20 domain controllers, lots of applications and replication from DFs to SQL etc... I'd like to be able to overlay if possible things like DNS flow, mail flows etc... and hide / show this layers at will (like a photoshop layer).
Any ideas?
Edit -
Looks like you can do layers in visio.
