ive created an ftp file but im lost as to what to type in me address bar to actual get there over the internet hehe the instructions with the thing is rubbish.

any one got any ideas its a DUAL HDD NAS Enclosure

i quote

Q: How do I access DUAL HDD NAS via the Internet ?
A: If your DUAL HDD NAS is using a public IP, please perform the following steps.
1. Enter the management web base of DUAL HDD NAS and go to the FTP Server page to enable FTP Status.
2. Create User account and limits of authority.
3. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer or other FTP software, and enter DUAL HDD NAS’s IP address in the address field (ftp://DUAL HDD NAS IP).

well i have done this but im lost i realy am please help :)

cheers all

sorry to be a pain but does any one know what the hell i got to do hehe.

i realy dont know what to type in the address bar for it to find me network harddrive.

ive opend ports 21 and 20 on me router still nothing ive typed in whats my ip to get that but im still lost.

please help.

You'll need to reconfigure your router to allow port 21 and 22 through to the NAS, then you cant use your public IP address like Thebug says.

EDIT sorry miss read your second post

Are ports 21 and 22 pointing to the NAS internal IP address?

What program are you using for FTP?

hi all yes ports are pointing to me internal ip and im using no ftp program just fire fox i need to learn it this way as if im away on another pc i cant just load up programs to use.

p.s i have managed to connect to it now but me bro tryed to send a file by drag and drop in ftp window (firefox dident work.

as u can tell i have no idea what/how this works.

what should i do hehe please advise
cheers

You cant do it with firefox but if you use internet explorer you can go to your ftp page then go to page or tools (one or the other) and open page in explorer i think it is, then you can drag and drop files.

90KB/s is 720Kb/s, which depending on your ISP and service could be all the upstream bandwidth there is. On my VM 20Mb connection, I have 20Mb downstream, but only 768Kb upstream. So chances are your mate is sending as fast as his connection is actully allowing him to.

As for the disconections, perhaps try a proper FTP client rather than a browser based one, and then see what happens.

I have to agree, although a nice touch in browser I've found them a bit tempermental when compared to dedicated FTP programs.
