just want to make sure i'm not going over the VirginMedia download limit.
So if i leave my uTorrent going at 50kB/s for 5 hrs between 10am and 3pm, am i right in thinking i would potentially download 900MB.

50kB/s = 180MB/hr * 5 = 900

VM download limit for that time is 1000MB, so i'm safe right?

(in reality i'll set it to 45kB/s just to be safe)

Yes, 50kB/s for 5 hours is 900mb

Watch out for your upload.

EDIT: (not sure if VM include upload in their bandwidth limit)

They include upload limit in the afternoon/evening throttling. between 4pm-9pm there is an upload limit. but not between 10am-3pm.
