Hi -

Firstly apologies in advance for the daft questions. I just cant get my head around this!

I have a modem/router attached to my phone line. It has both wired and wireless options. One computer is attached to the modem/router by an Ethernet cable. I can access the Internet just fine through this.

My second computer has a wireless LAN card. I can connect to the modem/router, but don't seem to be able to either connect to the internet or to connect to the other computer. I am sure this is all basic stuff, and I have tried reading various guides etc - including the one here. But can someone give me an idea how I should be approaching getting this working?

I am on the verge of going out and buying another cable!

Cheers and again apologies for the noobness!

Jon

Well that worked. Popped the Tiscali DNS addresses into the properties for the connection and there was light!

Thanks for that, brilliant!

One problem down, one to go :)

Now how can I network my two PCs together to share files etc? (I told you I didn't understand this - I bet you all believe me now!) One is wired, one is wireless, both joined to the modem/router.

Thanks in advance - Jon

Thanks again all.

I have put both computers into the same workgroup, but they can't see each other still. Any ideas?

Also, I can alter the address of the DNS server in the properties section of the wireless connection, but for some reason, this seems to be lost every time the PC is rebooted, again has anyone any ideas?

Cheers for all your help - Jon
