Hi there

I've have 3 pc's

A-running windows media
B-running windows XP home
C-running XP home

What i want to do is give:
1. PC's A and B full access to the shared folder on PC 3
2. PC C no access to the shared folders on PC's A and B
3. PC's A and B full access to each others shared folder

I guess you would have to password protect PC's A and B's shared folder to stop PC c getting the access but how can I do that with the PC running XP home??

Is there an easier solution

cheers

hmm

depends on who'se using PC C that you dont want to have access

if its you're kids

when sharing files on PCs A and B, add a $ on the end of the sharename. Now it wont appear when browsing the computers, but will appear if you manually type in the name including the $ sign

chances are most 11 year olds dont know that :)

as i dont believe XP home enables you to password protect shares.

edit

just had a thought, you could put your shares in your my documents folder, then use the "make my folder private" option. This is available in XP home and will password protect your my documents folder. then just share that :)
