Ok here is my problem yesterday i wake up and booted up my pc as usual, and found my internet speed had drop from 73mbps to 8mbps using my gbit lan port not wifi, i thought something had happened in the night to my connection, was not happy so i called up my isp to report a fault.
Today i thought i try speed test on my laptop got full speed at 73mbps, so something as happened on my main pc, looked in the local area connection status speed says 10.0 mbps, that can't be right should be least 100 mbps or 1gbit.
I only reinstalled windows 7 on another drive last week, i still had my old windows 7 on another drive, so i boot that up see if that fixed it still showing 10.0 mbps local area connection.
So is my gbit port ** please fully star out swaering ** if so what card is the best i buy to use in this motherboard its a GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3.
any help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Try a different cable. Could just be a faulty wire.

If not, check the settings of the NIC itself, although it shouldn't change from its highest rated speed to something else on its own.

Could be a faulty cable or lose connection but also if its older hardware sometimes the capacitors in the network card/embedded start to degrade and have a huge impact on network performance (though a Z68X shouldn't really be old enough for that).

I've tried 4 different cables, changed the router to the one i got from my isp thats plus net, still same problem only running at 10mbits.
Can't think of anything else.
What you all think?

Check the NIC settings and I guess you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the NIC drivers. Seems odd that anything would go wrong with those though as it was working previously.

i dont think its a driver problem, like i said i got 2 HDD with a copy of windows 7 on both, i swap back to the old HDD with windows 7 which worked fine before, i've not touched it, and that still only showing 10.0 mbits.

Also when i go into bios there is a option in intergrated peripherals, smart Lan (Lan Diagnostic function), i press it and it runs for acouple of seconds and comes up with 10mbits, there is no option to change it to 100mbits or 1gbit.

I've fixed the problem what ever you do, if you have a function in your bios called smart Lan DO NOT PRESS it, it will give you aload of trouble for days. The way i fixed it is unplugged my Lan cable from back of pc and unplugged the pc from the mains altogether, left it like that for 5mins.
Plugged lot back in, booted up, and now its showing in local area connection status speed 1.0 Gbps.
Happy again :)

Check your network card settings and make sure it's set to 1gb full duplex. Might be set to 10mb hence the speed.
