Network issues

Hello,

In my bedroom I have a PC and Xbox which has a wired connection to a switch which then is connected to a powerline which goes downstairs.

However, I recently bought a Nexus 7 and can't connect it to my WiFi which can't be brought up here. Is their a device that acts like a switch but, adds WiFi capability? Its becoming a pointless purchase if I can't actually use it when at home?

swap switch for a wireless router. something like this

turn off dhcp etc, make sure it is on the same subnet as main router. put it in the dmz of main router

could or sumit like that be able to help with my situation, i have my pc in the bedroom now and my signel strength aint to great as my pci card is sort of broken but still usable. can this replace my sky box wireless router and help with my problem?
