Hi All
Fair to say I am a PC novice but would appreciate some advice.
I am having network issues on my desktop pc at home. I access the internet via a usb wireless adapter and a Virgin Media hub (located in another room) but find the internet speed on my desktop pc to drop off often and be quite slow at times. If I use another device such as a surface pro or my iphone (in my room) they perform considerably better and never experience a break in connection. This leads me to believe the issue is something to do with the hardware on the desktop pc. The desktop is relatively old by todays standards and has usb 2.0 ports.
A colleague also advised me that the internet speed that I will be able to access (on any PC) is dependent on the speed of the network card. So if the desktop has a network card with of max speed of 50mbps and Virgin Media provides my household with 300mbps, on this device I will only be able to access up to 50mbps. I have taken a pic of my network adapters below. Please could you advise which is my current/active network card so I can then find out its maximum speed. Or possibly it is located in built to the motherboard. Thank you
