Hi,

finally setup 2 test servers with network load balancing printers.

IP Address 192.168.1.1 / 192.168.1.2 9 for example )

And the new Load balance IP is called Printer2 192.168.1.3

Now on other machines I can ping the IP Address but not the host name. And when I do :

\\printer2\hp printer

It doesn't map but doing it via IP it works. Any ideas why ?

Thanks

Just change the DNS records if you're using Windows 2003.

I imagine it will register them in time but may take 15+ minutes to do this - depends on your DNS server.

Strange thing is that there is already a record in DNS.

Oh just tried and on the server itself when I go via host name I get a Connect to box. Asking for log in credientials.

I have tried all sorts and not a lot happens :(

Can you give me a bit more information.

Assuming they are on Windows 2003 - you've network load balanced it on the servers and have a new IP for it. Are they shared with the same name / IP. Does PING actual resolve the NLB address?

Are the PC's you want to share the printer connected to the domain (assuming you have a domain setup)?
