Network Problem - Duplicate Administator?

Hi all

I have several computers in the house, all running off the one ADSL connection.

All the computers connect to the network wirelessly or through a dLan AV plug (ethernet).

I recently upgraded my old wireless router because I was experiencing horrendous connection problems and my ISP (Madasafish) told me it was probably due to a faulty router (at least the BT line test did not reveal any problems).

Needless to say I went out and bought a new Belkin N1 Vision wireless modem router to find that although all the computers can now connect wirelessly they can no longer connect via ethernet.

I run OS X and when I reboot the router a red warning triangle appears on the Belken setup page stating "192.168.2.2 in use by 00:1c:b3:53:d1:03 DHCP Server 192.168.2.1". I clear the warning and the system then operates normally but on wireless only. The Belkin homepage also throws the following warning up on occassion "Duplicate Administrator - A user at 192.168.2.5 is managing the router".

Any suggestions? .. or any links to where I could read up on network troubleshooting (how do I fing which .. if any .. computer .. is the offender?). Is it a big job to set up DCHP (whatever that is ) manually to avoid problems?

Sorry for the long post but I have came to my wits end with this thing!!!

Thanks in advance .. /bob

Have you made sure all of the workstations are set to automatically get an IP? Sounds to me like you have a static IP sitting amongst your network somewhere.

Or you have the wired and wireless NIC's using the same IP.

I know I have a static IP assigned to me from my ISP. Over and beyond that I just left all the respective workstations (2 macs, 1 win xp and 1 linux machine) to sort everything out automatically (told you I know very little about networking:p). Ill go onto each computer and check to see if they are setup to obtain an IP automatically .. not too sure how to do this though)

Thanks for the advice .. I really appreciate all the help I caan get on this /bob

I havnt touched it and I can now access the net by ethernet (weird intermitant problem then) .. ill keep digging and report back in case anyone else has a similar problem.
