Hello there ive got a slight problem which i hope u can help me with!

I have the BT Home Hub Router and its installed in my bedroom however when its in my bedroom the wireless coverage doesnt work through the whole house only upstairs and directly below my bedroom. Apparently its due to the water boiler downstairs and the copper in it stopping the coverage so i was told.

So i went out and bought these plugs which you can install in the house to have a network round the house but that gives me a problem in my bedroom as instead of having 2 ethernet ports one used for pc and one for ps3 through the home hub the plug takes up one so i can only have one device connected to the router at any one time.

So i took the plugs back and was thinkin of gettin another router instead. one for in my room and one for downstairs but before i bought it from ***** luckily my cousin phoned up and told me that the bt router would conflict with the other router (what it said on the bt site) so can someone tell me what ways i can get round this problem many thanks!

You need an Ethernet switch connected to one of the Home Hub ports - this will increase the total number of ports you have available.

(Adding another router will cause IP address and default gateway conflicts if both routers are set to use DHCP - the one with the Broadband/ Cable connection would need DHCP to be switched off)

You can then connect your PS3 and any other users directly to the Ethernet switch rather than to the Home Hub (including powerline adaptor if you still need this capability).

I have that kind of setup here :)

You could add another router to extend the wireless network, but a) you couldn't connect them both to the phone line and b) you'd have to connect them somehow: other than dragging a cable, HomePlug would've been ideal.

Or you could get a range extender off the bay for peanuts. Thats what I did for my customer who has a house built like they used to build castles. (Walls are stupidly thick)
