i have 5 desktops and 1 laptop on my network

all have 10/100/1000 network cards

i have a linksys adsl router 10/100 (i think)

2 5 port linksys switches at 10/100

and 1 linksys access point for my laptop

the problem is that the 2 pcs in my room will only conect at 10mb a sec to hte network.

the 2 pcs in my room conect to a switch as well as the access point the switch then connects to the router.

the rest of the computers (not sure about the laptop) connect at 100mb via the other switch and the router

i dont understand why?

some of the cat5 cable i have is old maybe that is why?
a setting on the switch maybe?
a windows setting i have missed?

can any1 give me idears or fixes for this

if u need any other info just ask.

draw me a map of your net work and exact model number and makes of all network hardware (router/switches/access points) and i will see what i can come up with.

Setting on the switch I'd say.

Like to get access to your routers settings through its gateway, do the same for the switch.

Try swapping your two switches around, to see if the problem stays with the switch, this will help narrow your search.

there are no switches or buttons on the switch and the instruction book said nothing about settings.

im gona turn it off then back on see if that does anything.

got it working now

i changed round the 2 switches and it worked i got 100mb on all computers then i swaped them back still had 100mb a sec so all is gd now :)

thanks for the input every1
