I have purchased a new Dell R710 its got a bit of poke with 4tb of hd and 12 gb ram plus 2 2.0 xeons.
At the moment I have 1 DL380 & 1 DL180 basically the 380 is a domain controller and file server and the 180 is a 2nd dc and a some applications.
Now the warranty will be up with these soon and I need to rebuild ready! got plenty of time but my question is what do you guys think would be the best way to setup the new server?
I have windows 2008 r2 but do I use hyper-v or esxi etc? and how many machines would the kit handle do you think? I was thinking 3 machines a dc a fileserver and a applications server or should I be thinking more exotic or less so? I can probably knock up a small crappie box to back the 4tb up via the network etc?
Really just after some ideas, dont have loads of money to spend either
