Hi all,

Bit of a head-scratcher...

SBS 2008 with several shares.
An office spec. Richo Printer/Scanner/Copier.
I've configured the Richo to place scans on a network share, works fine and the scanner never throws an error.

The issue is domain users viewing this share sometimes have to wait for 15+ minutes for the newly scanned files to be displayed in the "Scans" folder.
If I access the folder directly via the server the files appear in the scans folder instantly.

I've noted that the Scans folder will update for different users at different times.
So a newly scanned PDF may show up for one user before another. Sometimes instantly, other times a 15 minute wait.

F5'ing the folder has no effect.

What is the cause of this issue? Where would you start?

It's a small network of 1 x SBS2008 and 6 x Win7 PCs. All on the same LAN.

Many thanks.

Found a couple registry tweaks to alter the behavior of SMB2.
Have implemented them on 1 PC, will report back. Obviously will post them up too if they work!

UPDATE:

My registry tweak appears to of worked. It's an issue with SMB 2.0

Okay, problem fixed with the help of MS support. It is an SMB2.0 issue it appears. But disabling it, isn't the right call. You need to add some registry keys to force SMB2.0 to refresh the screen quicker. Here are the keys:
*as always, edit the registry at your own risk*

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanworkstation\Parameters

1.Directory cache, by setting "DirectoryCacheLifetime" to ZERO.

2.File Not Found cache, by setting "FileNotFoundCacheLifetime" to ZERO.

3.File information cache, by setting "FileInfoCacheLifetime" to ZERO.

After adding these entries, reboot the machine and try again. I did this to any client machine that was having issues viewing the network share. I didn't do this to the File server itself.
Hope this can help anyone else that runs into this very obscure issue.
