network speed/duplex settings question

my pc has been like this for while - i have an nforce4 ultra MB but in my task manager the network tab says my link speed is only 10mb, when i would have assumed it should be 100mb. Its not a problem at the moment as i only have a 4mb connection anyway but i thought i'd ask here anyway.

in the network controller properties the speed/duplex setting is set at full autonegotiation.

there are a few settings but i'm not sure which one to try - force 100 full duplex, force 100 half duplex, autonegotiate for 100FD etc etc

what do you reckon??
or is it really not important as i'll be lucky to get over 10mb in the next year anyway! (NTL ;) )

Do you have something else that your connecting to via the LAN connection? If its on auto negotiate mode then it sounds like the other device is set to 10Mb which means the PC connection is falling in line with that.

ahh good point - its broadband via an ntl set top box so perhaps that is setting the limit - now that i think about it i think that the limit for the samsung stb's might be 10mb.

so the mystery may be solved - can anybody with the same broadband confirm this?
