A friend asked me to kit his home network out with the ability to store files/ access them on a networked drive even when computers are switched off etc. So I figure he needs a networked drive that will plug directly into his router.

Its only for a few word documents and excel files, very little storage is needed. Could anyone recommend me a solution to this or a small drive that could handle this task. Was hoping for a budget around £50/60.

Thanks :D

Does his router have a USB port?

D-Link ShareCenter Pulse 2-bay fits the budget.

Thanks for the reply!

I would need to check but it probly doesn't have USB support! I had a look at that D-Link Sharecenter.

Would I be able to connect the sharecenter to the router VIA ethernet then plug a usb pen drive into the sharecenter and then be able to access the pen drive from anywhere on the network? or am i being a noob :D

You should be able to yeah, looking at the datasheet it says.. and I quote

"a convenient USB port on the front of the ShareCenter can be used to attach external USB storage drives, USB printers, or an uninterruptible Power Supply (uPS) for monitoring."
