Network Stress Tester software

I'm looking for an open source network stress tester. Must be able to tell of any lost packets or errors.

Suggestions?

TFTP server. If i want to stress test a link i set up a TFTP server and transfer a larger disk image or something using it.
What sort of network are you testing, and to what ends?

If you have a Cisco network or a Linux box either side then use ttcp to check for bandwidth and an extended PING to check for latency / packet loss

No point forking out for software to bring you pretty graphs - the above will be more than sufficient.

The program your after is IPERF although youll need control of each endpoint.
