Yes but for about £20 :)

I think so I just want to share my internet in the garden room with a few devices.
Any router will do that, just set it up with an allow list in MAC filtering, everything else gets blocked, this is how I always configure my routers, stops anyone getting on the network even if they did get the wifi password as they are not in the allow list, or did i get the wrong end of the stick ?

I think you're right. I don't know what MAC filtering is though.

Sounds like you're after either an access point (to go from ethernet to wifi or bridge wifi for wifi to ethernet), a network switch or a repeater.

How do you currently connect to your internet from your garden room - Are you relying solely on WiFi using your internet router (located in the house somewhere) or, have you got ethernet running to your garden room?

And what types of devices are you wanting to connect - are they WiFi based, ethernet or a mixture?

Within your router, (depending on your router) you should have a MAC filter setting, it usually allows 2 options, 1 block certain MAC addresses only, 2 Allow certain MAC addresses only, every device you have has a MAC address, you should be able to see what they are in some sort of devices tab on your router, you can then add those to the allow list which will stop anyone else connecting.
