Hi all, what is the best way to get all system info and hardware specs of machines on my network without going round 1 by 1 and writing down the CPU speed, ram, hdd space, os version etc?

Is there a free util that can be ran which goes out over the network and fetches this info or is that a big ask?

Spiceworks is the first thing that springs to mind; it will collect all of the hardware specifications of any system it can query on your network. It's ad-support rather than free, though, which may put you off. There are probably many others (hopefully you'll get some more suggestions!).

I'e used Spiceworks before as a demonstration for the type of technology and it worked well. I didn't like the adverts but for free you can't complain

We use LANSweeper now, it's not too dear and means we have pretty much binned a massive (one of the largest in Eurpope) Centennial implementation off the back of it!

Dameware is pretty great, and not hugely expensive. I used Alloy Navigator at my previous job and it was awesome, but it's also expensive and probably overkill, especially if all you want is the CPU/RAM/HDD of each PC on your network.

I was also going to suggest PSINFO.

How many machines are we talking? If iwere talking a fairly low number and a one off exercise, all you would need is a list of the PC names in a text file, and you can point the psinfo command to the list.

Of the top of my head the command is literally "psinfo @mylist.txt" but don't quote me
