Hey, haven't posted here in a while but here I go.

I'm using 10MB broadband from Virgin at the moment, and even though I only have utorrent running at like 100kb/s a second (max speed I've experienced consistently is 1.1mb/s), my games still get huge ping spikes when it's running (1/2k Pings), and I think it's because even though it's not using a lot of bandwidth, the network traffic is still prioritizing the torrents traffic rather then the games traffic (If that makes any sense).

If that doesn't make sense and I've made myself look like a total idiot, then I hope you get the jist of my problem and can help, is there some kind of program I can use to tell PC to prioritize network for certain applications?

Thanks in advance.

As folks have said pause you're downloads when gaming, upload speed is probably having more of an impact on your gaming than download, but it's always best to just stop completely.

May also be down to the maximum TCP/IP connections as well. Depends on the operating system though.

M.

Running win7, as someone else said my upload is limited to 10kb when downloading/gaming.

I guess I can't really utorrent/game at the same time then, thanks for the advice guys.

I have noticed something odd with Virgin Media, when uTorrent is open, is that it will drastically reduce my internet connection spped. I have tried this on multiple computers, multiple operating systems, and multiple routers. The only thing I can work out is that itis either capped, or there is some sort of UPnP issue with their modem, or it is capped.
