Problem I noticed, trying to access my PC form other computers on the network just gives it a network path cannot be found..

I checked my PC and clicking Network on the start menu does nothing, just gives a white window..

Something is broken here?

Any ideas on what to try out?

So it's a home network you have?
I think we need a bit more detail.

Have you restarted the PC's?
Have you restarted the router? Power down for 5 mins.

Did you make any changes or app installs recently?

Yeah just a home network usually I can see the different PC's on this window, it works on the other PC and laptop but not on my one..

Restarted, made sure all the stuff is starting by setting MSconfig to normal incase I had disabled something..

I'll try restarting the router next..
All i've done is install a few things, Flight sim stuff nothing i'd have thought would cause a problem with Windows.

Thanks for your hlep
David

Okay, once the router comes back up check that both PC's are on the network.
Quick internet page on both, Start > cmd > ipconfig /all.

If that all checks out okay run the wizard to connect them, it's pretty good and should reset\fix anything it finds out of place.

Have you changed any firewall settings recently?

--Edit, going to report this to move it to networking, better responses in there also.

Meant to add, if it's just this one PC that can't connect then it's just that PC that has the issue. Before restarting the router try and run the home network wizard on the PC that has issues, see if it can see the network.

This is the window I get when I click on Network in the start menu.. On the other computers all is fine.

I'll be resetting router shortly, its in use as people are streaming something in the other room!

It shows up in Safe Mode and if I disable everything in MSconfig.. any clue there? I'm going to try disabling things until I find it!

Edit: Okay, I can get into the network window but still can't access it from other computers.

Hey,

So resets didn't work, need to try the other parts now. I think this is solely a problem with this one PC.

The PC in question, can it access internet? Is it consuming bandwidth from the router?
Start > run > cmd > ipconfig /all
Do you see an IP similar to that of your router? i.e. 192.168.1.103
Can check that IP from another machine that is up on the network.

If it is connected, can you run the network wizard on the faulty PC and try to connect it back to the home network you have?

If the screen you are showing me is when you try to run the wizard then take a look at post 4 here: http://forums.techarena.in/networking-security/1390154.htm

Did you update video drivers when you installed the flight sim/apps?

Cheers, HIH.

ipconfig /all seems normal, well nothing strange that I would notice.

I fixed the white screen and can now see other computers on the network but still can't access my computer from the other computers.

Also i've got/had a google redirect type mallware/virus which I think i've got rid of.. Seem to be having a few problems.. maybe its connected?

I'm going to try an inplace upgrade if the Windows 7 disk lets me.. Could this fix problems with Windows?
