Networkable automatic file backup?

Hey guys, basically i'm looking for a piece of software or a way of how to share files and folders across my home network but so they back up automatically when new files are added. (essentially a home 'dropbox')

Is there anyway to do this?

Does freefilesync/realtimesync work cross platform? So for instance, i install FFS on my pc and set the two locations as one on the windows machine and the other one on my Mac?
