We were given a HP2600n printer to set up as a networked printer on a cluster server. It worked on one node but wouldn't install to the cluster itself. Then we found that the 2003 server driver is a host based driver only

Is there a similar cheap (preferably HP) currently available printer that anyone has got set up and working on a cluster server?

Yes, cheers for the response but I do think it's the printer and drivers. We originally tried to set it up using NDPS but although it all looked OK nothing was coming out of the printer. So we decided to set it up on a new set of servers (migrating to fully AD anyway soon, new SAN etc).

I've tried to do the standard install, then gone back and actually RTFM in case I'd missed something. I can install the drivers to both Nodes but the install to the cluster fails at the finish.

HP's own documentation on the printer shows it as host based only and it doesn't have any PCL6/5e or postscript emulation either. So I think we really are looking for a different printer :(

We had the same kinda problems with our 2600n's. Handy for me though as they bought about 8 and cant use them so they gave me one :D

We replaced them with the 3800's

I think I'll just install try install the drivers for the next model up before we buy. The 2605DN appears to have PS and PCL emulation and is quoted as having network drivers. It's £450 cheaper than the 3800 too :)
