Hey guys,

I've got a printer that is connected up to the network and we can all print from it from our PCs so its working fine in that department.

However, I cannot seem to Scan a document from the printer, to my computer, across the network. Is this a common 'problem' with networked printers?

The current software I have now, which came with the printer only allows me to scan to my computer via it plugged in USB 2.0 - of course this isn't good!

I was wondering if its a network issue, or if theres 3rd party software available that you guys use and could reccomend?

Hope this is in the correcto forum area :).

Thanks,
Gangster.

Thanks for the reply. So basically its not possible -- the document that you want to put on PC has to be connected to it via USB 2.0?

Are all the network settings correct, such as subnet mask? Does it need to have a domain name added for the scanning to work correctly? Does it need perhaps a different TCP/IP Protocol setup for it to work? We have an expensive plan copier at work that refused to work and it need an LRP Protocol installing on the PC for it to work correctly...

I think they're correct - thing is the software doesn't have any settings for me to edit (so I cant tell it where to look). This is why I was hoping for some 3rd Party Software of some sort.

You've not said what the device is.
Its a Canon Mp520, hooked onto a Print Server.
