networking a printer

hi there

I have a linksys router with 2 pc's of it using sky 16mb broad band,

I have assigned each machine a static ip and opened the ports on the router

I have now found out my HP dj 6940 printer is networkable and has a ethernet port on the back

is it just a case of plugging a cable from a spare port in my router into the printer and then it is good to go

please help

how do I navigate onto the printer to assign a static IP

also how do set it up in windows

laymans terms please, first time I have done this
