Networking computers on a home network

I have a netbook, a pc and soon a ultrabook.

I want to connect them to each other over my network.

I was on the netbook the other day which already has home sharing turned on.
I could see my PC drives but when I clicked on one it asked for a user name and password???

What could they be?

Any ideas?

Turn Off "Password Protected Sharing" in the Network & Sharing Centre

Or login to the shares with the username and password of a local admin account on the remote machine.
