Looking at buying asus RT-N65U.

Problem is I'm not sure how to set it up with my current system. What I have currently :

ADSL phone socket > ADSL filter > sky router/modem.

Since this router does not have a modem how will I use it?

If you want to use the Asus as the router for all your devices, then turn off DHCP in the Sky hub if you can, then connect the Asus's WAN port (the very top port that's seperate from the other four ethernet ports) to any of the ethernet ports on the Sky hub, and follow the quick setup settings. This will set the Sky hub as a modem only and the Asus as the router. If there's no option to turn off DHCP on the Sky hub, just turn off the wireless, it will still act like a router but it won't affect your Asus router.

Will I see a performance increase on my network speeds? But I guess not really on the Internet speed as I'm still using the sky as a modem? I presume cable connections don't need a modem and only ADSL connection does?

Cable connections terminate on a separate modem and then connect to an ethernet (cable) router.

With the gigabit ports and 5ghz wifi you will see a good improvement speed wise between your devices, but it won't change your internet speed which is still heavily dependant on your phone line.
