Hi there, just got my laptop back from ITSS (I believe they repair the teachers for schools laptops..

Anyhoo the laptop will connect via wireless to my network, the internet gateway says the "internet is connected"

When I hover over the wireless connection is says I'm connected at 54mps

However the gateway connection shows 2mps

Also when I try to use IE or FF to go to a website, the web bar displays 10.0.0.1

I've tried the Winsock fix, I've looked to see if the laptop is set to obtain IP addresses automatically, there is no conflict between any other devices

I have also unistalled the windows gateway

Nothing has worked

I have also tried using a network cable, to the same problem, the internet gateway shows a connection speed of 2mbps

Would love some help or areas to look into!

Cheers

Running XP

Thats because ITSS has put in their proxy server into IE.

Remove it by going to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> Proxy Settings.

Just untick the box.

Just out of interest... do you work at a school? Just wondering how ITSS have fixed this laptop?
