Hi,
I have an HP color Laserjet 4550N, and it has an ethernet socket in the back of it.
Is it possible to just plug the printer into my wireless belkin router via the ethernet port to allow the printer to be used by every computer on that network?
Cheers

i have it connected via the network cable to my router, and lights at both ends are solid green. However, i can't seem to find the printer on the computers, i have tried using HPs network setup utility but it says it cannot find any printers on the network :s
any ideas?

cheers for the help! :)

i'm just waiting for 2 new 10m ethernet cables to come in the post so i can plug everything bk up because i've had a shift around of all the computers/routers in the house and need longer cables.

when i get them i will print off a config page to get the IP and then try to add the printer and let you know how it goes

i've just been through the printer menu
i found the network settings menu, atm it is set as DHCP off, TCP/IP on, and the IP is set at 192.168.1.10.
I've changed it to IP 192.168.2.10 (because my router is 192.168.2.1), and changed the GW to 192.168.2.1.
I'm taking it GW is the gateway IP? so for my router it would be 192.168.2.1?

Also, what does the 'LG' stand for?
the IP in 'LG' seems to be empty (0.0.0.0) as default.

Cheers

The cable came yesterday and i got it working :D
I couldn't use the windows printer install system for some reason, i had to run the HP install program and type in the 192.168.2.10 IP.
It's working great on all computers now, so there is no longer any need for me to keep one computer running to share the printer haha.
